We’re thrilled to share that Issue 74 – Fall 2025 of Red River Review is now live. This issue marks an important milestone in our relaunch and reflects the heart of what RRR has always been: a space where language, memory, place, and creative risk-taking come together in meaningful ways. Thank you to all the contributors who trusted us with their work and submitted with such care during this transition year. Your voices have brought this issue to life. We’re also excited to announce that submissions for Issue 75 – Winter 2025 are now open. We welcome poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, hybrid and interdisciplinary work, and visual/digital art. As we continue rebuilding our archive and expanding the journal’s offerings, we look forward to discovering new voices and welcoming returning ones. We’re thrilled to announce that Red River Review is officially open for submissions! Our current reading period has begun, and we invite poets, writers, artists, and hybrid creators to share their work with us. As we relaunch the journal, we’re still in the process of migrating the full archive and reconnecting with past contributors and community networks. We’re also updating the layout and design of past issues; including the addition of author boxes and the removal of publisher names, so thank you for bearing with us during this transition. Whether you were part of Red River’s early legacy or are just discovering us for the first time, we’re so glad you’re here. Thank you for your patience as we rebuild, and please help us spread the word that Red River Review is back. If you were a past contributor, we’d love to hear from you! Please send us a short bio and a link to your public profile so we can include it in the new author boxes and make your work easier to find. Since its founding in 1999 in Texas, Red River Review has been a beloved digital home for poetry — a place where poets rooted in experience, landscape, and language found space to shape meaning and speak with clarity and emotional depth. Under the leadership of founding editor and publisher Bob McCranie, and later editor Michelle Hartman, the journal flourished, nurturing a vibrant and enduring literary community. Now rooted in the creative landscape of Colorado’s Front Range, Red River Review enters a new chapter with deep gratitude for its past and a renewed vision for the future. As we relaunch, the journal remains anchored in its poetic origins while expanding its scope to include short fiction, creative nonfiction essays, and hybrid or interdisciplinary work. We’re also opening new space for visual and digital arts, welcoming artists whose work engages language, form, place, and imagination in innovative ways. Looking ahead, we plan to introduce craft-focused workshops and creative learning opportunities to support artistic growth and deepen connections across disciplines and communities. This new chapter is about honoring where we’ve been while building something even more expansive and resonant. Welcome — we’re glad you’re here.

Our first steps are simple:

• Reopen submissions to welcome both emerging and established voices for issue #74
• Build out the archive library, honoring over two decades of literary excellence
• Reconnect with readers and contributors who have shaped the journal’s story

Please note: We’re currently in the process of migrating our site to a new host. You may notice a few changes in progress — thank you for bearing with us as we prepare for our official website relaunch on May 30, 2025. We will continue to make the archive more user-friendly and accessible during 2025-2026.
