The Blues Play Bass In The Dance Band Of Life

There is no long sad goodbye
no short cheery one either
you don’t hold the blues in your arms
they hold you.
don’t try to drown them in whiskey
they won’t go down ‘cause
the blues can swim, like a shark, like a ray
the blues ripple relentlessly on alcohol
you can’t whip away on speed
they won’t be left behind
the blues can move like a cheetah like the hound of the Baskervilles
the blues bound on the blood speed spills
I knew a guy with an economic theory
behavioral change to chase the blues with refulgent abundance
the blues can spend negative nothing and infinite everything
the blues play bass in the dance band of life
you can’t call in a debt on the blues
the blues don’t owe you nothin’
the blues don’t give they get
get you by the short and tender hairs
the blues are from a long line of crustations
crabs and the like
they get a hold and they hold on tight
like a bird on a wire or a drunk…
you’ll be brutalized, burglarized and caramelized
before you know you’re hypnotized
the blues will use whatever is your weakest
to destroy the strongest
unless you already sold your soul to the devil
and play guitar real good
stay away from the blues
